Cycle Gear is a privately held American retailer of Motorcycle parts and apparel. Since 1974, they have provided motorcyclists with quality gear, parts and accessories. Cycle Gear has 146 locations in 35 states.
The Scope
Cycle Gear had a designer on board for their new fixture package with a fantastic vision, but it was UCD that was tasked with bringing that vision into reality.
The Challenge
UCD played an integral role in value engineering the entire package. One key example was Cycle Gear’s new cash wrap: beautiful concept, but needed changes to make the vision come to life. UCD was able to suggest material changes that made the fixture more cost effective without compromising its integrity. The original concept called out for laminate tops, but by introducing different options of Solid Surface materials, (which Cycle Gear really liked) the customer had a new option that better suited their overall goal and ended up making the change. Not only was Cycle Gear thrilled with the final results but also the price tag.
The Solution
UCD’s decades of experience and expertise enabled them to assist in the interior design of the cashwrap as well. UCD ensured that Cycle Gear had the right amount of spacing for bag bin pullouts, display area, hang rod area, and enough room for POS equipment. Overall is was a collaborative effort to guarantee that the final product met all of the customer’s need.
