When the UCD team first spoke with Grocery Outlet Bargain Market VP of Purchasing, we instantly knew their attention to detail would perfectly complement our fervor for operational excellence. This led to a full-scale rollout of vacuum formed orchard bins across all 347 stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Pennsylvania.
The Challenge
While on a tour of our 130,000 sq ft facility, Grocery Outlet’s VP of Purchasing was very impressed with our facilities, organization, and the ability to palletize and ship in batches of 20 sets. In dire need of vacuum formed orchard bins, Grocery Outlet had a similar version of our proposed orchard bin but tasked UCD with making slight alterations. Wanting a smaller footprint, Grocery Outlet also requested a rushed production timeline and delivery. After offering potential solutions, it was decided that 30 of their 347 stores would receive a smaller profile vacuum formed freestanding floor display immediately while 120+ stores would receive their delivery shortly after.
The Scope
Taking into account the rushed and fast approaching need of all stores, UCD had a prototype prepared and delivered to the client in no time. Once approved, UCD rolled out 600 orchard bins, shipping 200 units per week to meet their rollout schedule. The entire process took three and a half weeks, start to finish.
The Solution
At a grand total of 600 orchard bins, stores had what they needed with plenty of time for their roll out. Delivered seamlessly and with UCD’s trademark customer service, Grocery Outlet was very pleased with the timeline and the results.
